Donald and the nephews want to win the Duckburg Hall of Rubble science prize. So they go hunting for meteor fragments in the desert. A guidebook which Donald has taken along is no great help. When Huey, Dewey and Louie finally hit on a meteor fragment with their metal detector they immediately lose it to Woimly Filcher. At night the Ducks watch a meteor going down, but they have no luck here, either.

12 flying insects can be found in the desert. The funny bird is watching the Ducks in the final panel.

William Van Horn: “What shall I say? I just felt like having a story take place in the desert. Sometimes a story virtually writes itself, just for the fun of drawing a certain scenery. And if even something profound comes about, well, it’s just the icing on the cake.”
